What Is The Difference Between A Power Distribution Box And A Lighting Distribution Box

Nov 14, 2023

100kv high-voltage cabinets and 400v low-voltage cabinets (regardless of incoming lines, outgoing lines, metering, capacitance, contact, voltage change, etc.) can be called power distribution cabinets.

The equipment below the 400v low-voltage cabinet is called a power cabinet if the outgoing load of the secondary side is a power facility (such as a fan, a motor, a water pump, etc.). The loads are lamps, switches, and sockets, which are called distribution boxes.

What is the meaning of distribution box, distribution box, control box, control panel, power distribution cabinet and control cabinet, and what is the difference between them?

The concept of these devices is not very clear, mainly because people often use them mixedly.

Distribution box: small power distribution box, which contains power switch and safety device.

Control box: a small control distribution box, which contains a power switch/safety device/relay (or contactor), which can be used for specified equipment control, such as motor control.

Power distribution cabinet: It is actually a large-scale distribution box, which can provide power output with higher power or more channels.

Control cabinet: In fact, it is a large-scale control box, which can provide higher power or more channel control output, and can also achieve more complex control.

Control panel: only the front control cabinet, all internal devices are installed on the panel.
