What Does A Loop Detector Do?

Mar 20, 2024

The loop detector does the following:

Loop detectors are used to detect metal objects. It detects metal objects by detecting the change in inductance caused by the metal object passing through a coil buried under the road surface. After this change is detected by the detector, the internal intelligent controller determines the presence of metal objects through calculation, and outputs a signal through the output relay.

Loop detectors are used in power systems. It is used to test ground resistance and loop resistance, such as building ground resistance, railway signal connection ground resistance, etc., to help conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure the normal operation of the power system.

Loop detectors are used for environmental monitoring. It is used to detect rain, fog, ice, snow on the road, or carbon monoxide content in tunnels and other meteorological conditions that affect traffic safety. Once harmful environmental conditions are detected, environmental detectors drive traffic signals or variable intelligence displays to warn drivers, close tunnels when carbon monoxide exceeds standards, and automatically turn on hazard signs when wind speeds exceed specified standards.

Loop detectors are used for circuit performance evaluation. The loop analyzer determines the transmission response performance of the circuit by testing parameters such as signal transmission delay and amplitude attenuation. This is critical for evaluating circuit performance, diagnosing faults, and improving designs.

Loop detectors are used for circuit troubleshooting. The loop analyzer can help engineers find fault points and defects in the circuit, accurately locate and eliminate problems, improve circuit reliability and reduce maintenance costs.

Loop detectors are used for circuit debugging and verification. The loop analyzer can be used to debug and verify the circuit to confirm that the circuit transmission effect meets the design requirements and standards.
Loop detectors are used for network loop suppression. In the network, the loop detection function can detect loops and take corresponding measures, such as disconnecting the loop port or raising an alarm, to avoid broadcast storm problems caused by loops.
